In an open letter to the Minister of Justice, Atanas Slavov, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Yulia Kovacheva and Rumen Alexandrov, Head of the Bulgarian Mission in the EU, the Bulgarian Platform of the EWL appealed for the need for urgent action on the adoption of the Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence.
The organisation has been advocating for years to get this Directive and it insists that there were already legal basis for specific actions to address sexual exploitation of women and cyberviolence against women and is also calling to improve the access to justice and protection of victims of this specific form of violence. The letter is part of a campaign organized by the European Women’s Lobby aiming to provoke swift and adequate actions on part of the Minister of Justice and the Head of the Bulgarian Mission so that this genocide against the Bulgarian woman is prevented.
